The referee for Australian franchising
FranchiseScope is Australia's independent franchise intelligence platform. We don't sell franchises and we don't trade in opinion, we help the right franchisee and the right franchisor find each other on facts, not hype.
Two people who need each other
Somewhere in Australia, someone is ready to back themselves. They've saved for years, they've done the reading, and they'd rather run a proven business than start from zero. They just need to find the right one , and to trust what they're told about the fees, the territory and the numbers behind it.
Somewhere else, a good franchise network is looking for exactly that person. Not a tyre-kicker. Not a form sold to ten brands at once. One genuinely interested, capital-ready candidate who fits the system and will make their outlet work, because a franchisor only succeeds when its franchisees do.
Both want the same thing: an honest connection. Yet they almost never find each other cleanly, because the market that sits between them is built to get in the way.
A market built to keep them apart
The franchisee looks and sees only brochures. Fees are quoted differently by every brand, the “best franchise” pages are really lead auctions, and the one document that matters arrives 14 days before signing. How do you compare, or know who to trust?
The honest franchisor has the mirror-image problem. It is drowned out by hype, because every network claims to be the best, and pays for recycled leads that were never really interested. The operator with nothing to hide has no way to prove it. So both sides shout across a noisy switchboard, misread each other, and too often connect with the wrong match. The buyer risks their savings on a marketing number; the franchisor signs someone who was never a fit.
- A shared set of factsFees and territory, stated the same way for every brand
- A way to compareLike-for-like numbers instead of brochures
- A signal of good faithHonest franchisors able to stand out from hype
- Genuine intentReal, capital-ready interest, not auctioned leads
The neutral ground in the middle
FranchiseScope stands between the two sides as the thing the market never had: one source of verified, dated facts that both a buyer and a franchisor can stand on. Not a broker taking a cut, not a brochure, a referee.
When the fees, the territory and the all-in cost are stated the same way for every brand, the franchisee can finally compare and trust. And when the field is level, the honest franchisor wins, because transparency rewards the operator with nothing to hide. Give both sides the same facts and the connection stops being a shouting match and starts being a fit: the right person and the right network, meeting on the truth.
That is the vision, a franchising market where nobody buys blind and nobody good gets drowned out. We're not all the way there. But every dated figure we publish moves it a little closer, and that is the work.
The principles that keep us in the middle
To be trusted by both sides, we can't lean toward either. So there are four things we don't bend on, ever.
Referee, not the vendor
We take no commission on any franchise sale and never auction leads to the highest bidder. Our only product is trustworthy information, the moment we tilt the field, we have nothing left to offer either side.
A date on every number
Fees and territory availability change. Every material figure carries the period it applies to and a 'last verified' date, so you can judge how fresh it is, a number without a date is not evidence.
Primary sources, named
We build from the ACCC Franchise Disclosure Register, the ABS and ASIC, and franchisor-published disclosure, and we attribute them. Not brochures, not opinion, not 'industry sources'.
Fact separated from view
We draw a hard line between what a disclosure document states and what we think it means. You always know which is which.
Independence isn't a slogan, it's the business model
A referee that's paid by one team isn't a referee. FranchiseScope is free for buyers and always will be. We earn from franchisors , through software for Franchising Code 2025 compliance, recruitment and enhanced profiles, never from a cut of a sale, and never by auctioning your enquiry.
A franchisor can subscribe, claim a profile and keep its own facts current, but it cannot buy a ranking, edit our analysis, or make an unfavourable figure disappear. And because we re-verify every quarter and keep the last reading, the record only gets harder to spin over time. If a commercial relationship ever affects what you see, we disclose it on the page, the rules are written down in our editorial policy.
