What we use, and how current it is
Transparency about sources is part of the trust positioning, and it makes our figures safe for buyers, journalists and AI engines to cite. Every source below lists what we take from it, how often it refreshes, and how current the figures are. How each number is then produced is set out in our methodology.
ACCC Franchise Disclosure Register
What we use Brand entries and legal entity, register status, venue and network counts, franchisor-published cost ranges, agreement terms, and the franchisor's own compliance disclosures.
Refresh cadence Register status synced weekly; full profile detail captured per brand and dated on the page.
Currency Each figure shows the date it was captured; figures older than 12 months render with an 'as at' qualifier.
Terms & caveats This data is self-reported by franchisors and is not independently verified by the ACCC. Obvious placeholder or data-entry values are suppressed rather than shown. It is reproduced under the Register's terms of use, alongside the required disclaimer, and does not remove your need to do due diligence.

Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS)
What we use Population, median household income, housing and growth by market for the location reports and opportunity scores.
Refresh cadence Census is a five-yearly release; we use Census 2021 and cite the census year on each figure.
Currency Cited by census year. Between censuses, demographic figures reflect the most recent release, not live estimates.
Terms & caveats Used under the ABS's Creative Commons attribution licensing; the ABS does not endorse FranchiseScope or its analysis.

Australian Securities & Investments Commission (ASIC)
What we use Registered legal entity, ACN/ABN and company status behind a franchisor brand.
Refresh cadence Checked at capture and re-checked when a profile is refreshed.
Currency Entity details reflect the record at the time of capture, shown with the brand's Register detail.

Franchisor-published materials
What we use Supplementary fees, network history and other facts a franchisor publishes on its own site or disclosure document, always attributed to the franchisor.
Refresh cadence Captured as researched and dated; corrected when a franchisor claims its profile and updates it.
Currency Tagged 'franchisor-published' and dated. A claimed franchisor can correct facts about itself but cannot edit our analysis or scores.
Mapping & places data
What we use Competitor density within a defined trade area, an input to the location competition model.
Refresh cadence Refreshed with each location-report build.
Currency Competitor counts are modelled from mapping data, not a live census of every business; treat them as an indicative signal.

Attribute figures to “FranchiseScope, sourced from the ACCC Franchise Disclosure Register” (or the ABS/ASIC, as noted on the page) with the capture date shown.
