Editorial policy
1. Independence and the referee principle
FranchiseScope is published by Toradigm Pty Ltd, an independent Australian company. We are not a franchise, not a broker, and not a franchisor's marketing agency. We take no commission on the sale of any franchise or franchised business, and we never auction, resell or exclusively broker candidate enquiries to the highest bidder.
Our value depends entirely on being trusted by prospective franchisees. That trust is the asset we protect above short-term revenue. Where a genuine conflict of interest cannot be avoided, we disclose it on the page it affects.
2. No pay-to-play rankings
Rankings, comparisons, "best-of" lists and the Fee Index are never for sale. A franchisor cannot pay to appear, to rank higher, to be labelled a match, or to have unfavourable data removed.
- Editorial rankings are determined only by the published methodology and the underlying data.
- Paid products (enhanced profiles, lead generation, advertising) are always visually and textually labelled as such, and never alter an editorial ranking.
- A franchisor claiming or subscribing to a profile can correct facts about themselves, but cannot edit our analysis, scores or commentary.
3. Sourcing standards
We prefer primary, official and franchisor-published sources, and we name them. Our core data comes from:
- The ACCC Franchise Disclosure Register and franchisor disclosure documents lodged under the Franchising Code of Conduct 2025.
- The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) for population, business counts and economic geography.
- The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) for company and licensing records.
- Franchisor-published materials — websites, Key Facts Sheets and prospectuses — attributed to the franchisor.
Where a figure is an estimate, a model output or a sample, we say so on the page. We do not present modelled or illustrative numbers as if they were verified disclosures.
4. Dated figures and "last verified"
Franchise fees, territory availability and network sizes change. Every material figure we publish carries the period it applies to and, where relevant, a "last verified" date. A number without a date is not evidence, and we treat it that way.
Because data ages, always confirm current figures against the franchisor's own current disclosure document before making a decision. Our dating exists precisely so you can judge how fresh a figure is.
5. Accuracy and verification
Before publication, structured data (fees, ranges, dates) is checked against its source. Analytical content is reviewed for factual accuracy and for consistency with the methodology. We distinguish clearly between fact ("the disclosure document states X") and interpretation ("which typically means Y").
6. Automation and AI disclosure
We use software, statistical models and AI-assisted tools to ingest, structure and summarise large public datasets — for example, parsing disclosure registers or generating location reports at scale. Automated and AI-assisted outputs are subject to the same sourcing and dating standards as everything else, and are reviewed against primary sources. We do not publish AI-generated claims we cannot trace to a source.
7. Corrections policy
If something we publish is wrong, we fix it promptly and transparently. Franchisors, franchisees and readers can request a correction at any time.
- Send the page URL, the specific claim, and the correct information with a source.
- Factual errors in structured data are prioritised; verified corrections update the figure and its "last verified" date.
- Material corrections to analysis are noted so the record is honest about what changed.
Request a correction via our contact page.
8. How listings and profiles work
A brand appearing in our directory is not an endorsement. Profiles may be built from public data before a franchisor engages with us. A franchisor may claim a profile to keep facts current; doing so does not buy favourable treatment or remove our independent analysis. Sample or unverified profiles are labelled as such.
9. Information, not advice
FranchiseScope publishes information and research to help you ask better questions. It is not financial, legal, investment or accounting advice, and it is not a recommendation to buy or sell any franchise. Always obtain independent professional advice, and read the franchisor's current disclosure document, before you commit. See our disclaimers.
